DISCOVER GOAT GRAZING & PASTORALISM

THE PASTORAL METHOD

Like a forgotten prequel, pastoralism is farming’s ancestor. As it is the most ancient form of goat husbandry. Today, pastoralism serves as the backbone of an ecologically sensitive and cost effective method of herd and land management. Goat Your Land is founded upon regenerative husbandry principles, which involve more than just nutrition. The behooveful sustenance your goats won’t get from a bag of feed.   It’s an approach aligned with the long-established history of providing grazing animals the beneficially stimulating interaction with nature, through field and trail life. Resulting in the natural, symbiotic cycle producing revitalizing results beneficial to the land and goats.

The recent advent of industrialized modern farming and agriculture almost eradicated pastoral herd and land management. Having detrimental affects from the maltreatment and exploitation of animals and harmful impact on the land. But that is changing!

SHOUD YOU GOAT YOUR LAND?

If you were a goat, Goatlandia would be the ideal kingdom. Filled with woods, creeks, rugged terrain and lush prairies. Most goats today, live confined in small paddocks, far from Goatlandia. Unaware that goats are Innately designed to forage, goat keepers tend to confine their animals full-time which denies them of necessary, health benefits they derive from stimulating interaction with land. Do you have the goat that regularly jumps the fence, escaping to Goatlandia?

When on land, a goat’s forage instincts aide in the symbiotic process   that defoliates, reduces and controls the spread of invasive plant species. Goat walking, involves implementation of key training principles, that enables herders, packers and pet owners to take their goats out of full-time confinement and onto performing as assistive land stewards.  For over 6 years we have employed research, applied learning, diligence and refined protocols that prioritizes animal welfare and restorative land management practices.  The essential element  present in all of these protocols is the intimate relationship we have garnered with our goats. Fostered through a commitment to consistent field and trail time. Whether seeking to HIRE OUR HERD for a small acreage land management project, OR if you have goats you want to train to turn onto land,  we hope you find OUR BLOGS helpful. IMPLEMENT THE PASTORAL METHOD

Unaware that goats are Innately designed to forage, goat keepers tend to confine their animals full-time behind fenced paddocks, which robs them of necessary benefits they derive from stimulating interaction with land. REGENERATIVE HUSBANDRY

A key element in land management and farming is the working of mutually beneficial relationships between multiple organisms – this is symbiosis.  The Goat Your Land method is built upon this regenerative synergy of earth, land and animals working together, thriving and reproducing.

One of our most popular posts provides an interesting perspective on how we discovered a PROVEN METHOD FOR ELIMINATING FLIES IN BARN AND PADDOCKS. Accomplished without the use of chemicals, expensive sprays and devices, that in turn provided essential minerals to our goats.
